Job overview
We are excited to offer a full-time band 5 paediatric dietitian post. We are a small, yet dedicated community paediatric dietetic team covering the East Riding of Yorkshire. Our service offers a flexible working pattern running virtual, telephone and face-to-face clinical sessions.
We are using telephone and video consultations and working closely via MS teams with our MDT to ensure safe and effective working. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a positive attitude who feels as passionate as we do about our work. We work with a range of children including those who are looked after and who may have complex health care needs.
Our service covers one to one clinic sessions, telephone clinics, input into special schools, MDT meetings and group education sessions. We work with a variety of clinical presentations, such as: allergies, nutrition support, very restrictive food intake, nutritional deficiencies, enteral feeding and learning disabilities. The team are focussed on training and keeping skills up-to-date to be as specialist as we can be in our area.
We strive to provide great student training to A, B and C students and work closely with the universities and our Humber Dietetic colleagues including adult mental health and CAMHS and adult eating disorders teams and catering dietetics services.
This band 5 role is a great opportunity for a dietitian to expand their practice and enjoy the variety that community paediatric dietetic practice offers.
Main duties of the job
Main duties:
The post holder will offer a high standard of evidence based therapeutic care working within a specific service area. They will be responsible for their own autonomous practice and ensure effective patient care is maintained.
To manage a mixed clinical paediatric caseload in a variety of clinical settings, delegating to Associate Practitioners and Dietetic Assistants where appropriate.
Provides routine clinical intervention in a range of conditions in paediatric dietetics such as allergies, nutrition support, complex feeding, enteral feeding and nutrient deficiencies
Provides group education as required
Provides supervision to students

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- A broad understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application
- An understanding of relevant clinical practice/standards within identified clinical area of dietetics
- A broad general knowledge of clinical dietetics
- BSc(Hons) Dietetics or PG Dip Dietetics
Experience

- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) e.g. developing specialist interests
