Job overview
The post holder as a Mechanical Engineering Technician within the Technical Development Group (TDG) provides mechanical engineering development and design support to departments throughout the Trust and Community. The successful candidate must have experience and qualifications as a Mechanical Engineer or time served with a Mechanical Engineering environment. The post will work with heavy industry machines such as Lathes, Milling machines, drills and CNC equipment. Applications are complex and specialised, requiring high precision and lead to the development and construction of prototype devices, which aid in a wide range of patient treatment and an improved quality of living to a section of the community.
The work also involves the design and manufacture of aids and adaptations for the disabled and carers to enable them to maintain independence.
Main duties of the job

Many different types of calibration apparatus and phantoms are produced for the setting up and calibration of equipment in areas of Oncology, Radiation Physics, CT, MRI, X-ray and Nuclear Medicine.
The work also involves the design and manufacture of aids and adaptations for the disabled and carers to enable them to maintain independence.

- Professional qualification to enable full state registration
