Qualifications

Essential criteria

Degree in Podiatry or Diploma plus equivalent podiatric knowledge/experience
State Registration with the Health Care Professions Council

Desirable criteria

Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level e.g. degree plus equivalent experience of specialist podiatric conditions or Post Graduate specialist qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria

A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. NICE Guidance, Falls Prevention, Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion
Knowledge of podiatry models of practice, standardised assessments and their use
Standard IT skills

Desirable criteria

Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. NSF, Social Inclusion
Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
Working knowledge of CHCP CIC policies and procedures

Experience

Essential criteria

Appropriate knowledge/experience of working in mental health/learning disability clinical practice areas
Successful completion of preceptorship

Desirable criteria

Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
Evidence of specialist practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation
Demonstrable experience as a Practice Educator of pre-registration students

Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.

ADOS Autism Assessor for Children and Young People, based in our Exeter clinic
