Job overview

City Health Care Partnership Primary Care Service has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, passionate colleague to work within our pharmacy team in Primary Care. Applications are welcome from candidates with excellent communication skills and a passion for high quality patient focused care, with an interest and desire to work within our growing high quality pharmacy team.

You will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent qualifications and must have a current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council to be considered for this role. You will also have relevant post-qualification experience working within a multi-disciplinary team. 

Main duties of the job

The pharmacy technician will work under the supervision of the pharmacist and will carry out day to day activities connected with the supply of medicines in a primary care setting.

The pharmacy technician will work under the supervision of a Senior technician to carry out roles associated with a Primary Care Technician such as medicines reconciliation, answering medication queries, supporting patients to manage their medication, undertaking medicines management audits , and ensuring services have standard operating procedures in place for the handling of medicines.

The technician will provide advice to patients on the use of medicines as well as on general health and lifestyle matters, Ensuring the delivery of patient focused pharmacy services in accordance with the General Pharmaceutical Council Codes of Conduct, NHS Pharmacy Regulations, Company Standard Operating Procedures and Policies and all other statutory requirements.

The technician will represent the organisation when required at appropriate local, regional and national training groups.

Will work flexibly to meet the needs of the services.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade C or above (new level 4-9) in English Language, Maths, Science and one other as a minimum or recognised equivalent
  • Completion of BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (as part of development role) or equivalent with underpinning knowledge (including an ACT qualification)
  • GPhC Pharmacy Technician registration

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of working as a technician in a pharmacy setting
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a primary care setting
  • Knowledge and experience of medicines reconciliation
  • Computer literate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and EPOS
  • Evidence of commitment to lifelong learning / CPD
