Job overview

Band 2 Administrator

Hull Royal Infirmary
Part Time

Have you ever thought about working for the NHS?

Behind every appointment, every clinic, every patient seen - there is someone who made it happen.

Our Administrators are the unseen heroes of patient care. The reassuring voice on the phone. The organised mind behind the clinic list. The calm presence supporting patients in what can often be their most worrying moments. Without them, patients don’t get seen. Services don’t run. Care doesn’t flow.

We are recruiting Administrators to join our teams across Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. You don’t need previous NHS experience - we can teach you the systems. What we can’t teach is compassion, professionalism and the ability to care about getting things right for patients. That’s what we’re looking for.

We are looking to recruit 1 x30 hour ( 4 x 7.5 hour shifts) post within our busy A&E department. you will be covering all the reception desks on a rota basis.

The role will cover all 3 shift patterns on a rolling 4 week rota basis

Shift patterns are as followed:

07.00-15.00

15.00-23.00

23.00-07.00

The role requires flexibility and will be given a mixture of these 3 patterns 6 weeks in advance. Set shifts will eventually be given after the probation period is completed.

Main duties of the job

What you’ll bring:

  • A caring and compassionate approach
  • Confidence communicating with patients and the public
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic IT skills (typing, email, data entry, use of computer systems)
  • The ability to work as part of a close-knit team
  • Calmness in a sometimes fast-paced environment

What you’ll gain:

  • The chance to make a real difference every single day
  • Full and part-time opportunities with flexible working options
  • One of the best pension schemes available
  • Generous annual leave entitlement - because you work hard and deserve proper time off
  • Structured training and ongoing support
  • Genuine career progression - many of our senior leaders began in administrative roles

Patient care is at the heart of everything we do, and our administrative teams are central to making that care possible.  If you are organised, compassionate, and want a role where your work truly matters, we would love to hear from you.

Working for our organisation

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
