Ward 8 HRI are looking to recruit 2 highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the team one on a permanent basis and 1 on a temporary 1 year contract. 

The Senior Healthcare Support Worker will assist the Registered Nurse in the delivery of safe, high quality clinical care to patients at all times, this will involve assisting with washing and dressing, feeding and helping patients to mobilise or change position.  The post holder will work under direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse and will be provided with appropriate training for the clinical setting in which they are working. 

Where additional skills training is identified as required in the job description, the post holder will not undertake those duties until training has been completed (except as part of the supervised learning experience).  Once trained and deemed competent, the post holder will undertake clinical tasks and duties which are within the scope of this job description.

 

The post holder will work collaboratively within the clinical area to meet the needs of patients and their families, following Group policies and procedures.  This role requires commitment to a work-based learning and development programme to undertake a Level 2 or 3 HCSW Apprenticeship, including the Care Certificate. 

It is desirable that the successful candidates have experience or a passion for working in Frailty and with dementia patients.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be assisting the Registered nurses in the delivery of safe and high quality care - this will involve bed baths, washing and dressing, feeding and helping patients to mobilise.

You need to have good communication skills both written and verbal for liaising with patients, staff and families.  

There will be the opportunity for extended roles such as recording observations, ECGs, blood glucose monitoring, simple dressings, emptying catheters, bladder scans - extra training will be given for these.
