Job overview

Are you a registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse ? Do you have a passion for excellent care? Are you excited by service improvement? Do you strive towards continued personal development and developing exceptionally skilled teams of clinicians? If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you.

We have a very exciting opportunity for a Clinical Lead to join our multi disciplinary team of professionals who deliver exceptional care within the acute assessment of mental health functional and organic inpatient wards at Maister Lodge and Maister Court.

The service is looking for an enthusiastic individual with acute mental health leadership experience, to enhance and deliver the work being undertaken to optimise the Trust’s acute / unplanned pathway.

There is an expectation that you will provide senior Band 7 duty cover on a Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday to the wider unplanned adult and older adult inpatient services as part of rotational cover shared amongst the other Band 7's in the division. This currently works out at around 1 in every 15 weekends with opportunity for additional if desired on both weekends or evenings. This is supported by the weekend MDT, covering all inpatients for emergency MDT discussions, and is led by the Band 7 on duty and an inpatient on call consultant.

Main duties of the job

We’re looking for a talented and knowledgeable registered professional who is highly motivated with an excellent work ethos to join our friendly and supportive team.

This position requires an inspirational, innovative and creative leader who can strengthen the management of ongoing clinical developments and delivery of care within our older people's mental health wards and the wider Inpatient Service, as part of the senior clinical leadership team.

The nature of this complex patient group ensures that Maister Lodge and Maister Court are a dynamic and often challenging environment. It would suit a professional who wishes to further develop their skills in evidence-based clinical practice and leadership

Utilising creativity and engagement skills, the co-management of a diverse multi-disciplinary group will be central to this role.  Working closely with the Team Leader, Modern Matron, Service Manager and other senior professionals, you will be supported and encouraged to progress.

The role requires the candidate to embrace and promote change and you must be able to demonstrate your adaptability to various situations. The ideal candidate will always have at the forefront of their mind, the need to support service users, carers, and the staff team in a positive, responsive, and compassionate manner.

In return we offer excellent development opportunities, and access to wider peer support from an incredibly experienced and support group of colleagues.
