The post holder will be responsible for delivering specialise clinical care to their own caseload and service within their speciality area. This role will predominantly involve assessing children and young people for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in line with NICE guidance.

Please note the role will be primarily assessing young people virtually.

You will have the opportunity to support the clinical team lead to develop the ADHD assessment pathway within the team, share specialist clinical knowledge, provide clinical supervision to peers, and develop strong links with our ADHD intervention pathway. Whilst this role mainly focuses on ADHD assessment, this position sits within the wider Children’s Neuro developmental Team and knowledge, and expertise of autism is also desirable.

The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance always ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

The team includes a Clinical Team Leader, Consultant Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Speciality Doctor, Pharmacists, Specialist Nurses/Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Nurse Associates, and Healthcare Assistant.

Main duties of the job

• To utilise specialist clinical skills to complete neuro developmental assessments (ADHD ), support diagnostic decision making and feedback to young people and their families.
• To recognise the need for, initiate and where appropriate interpret relevant diagnostic investigations.
• To recognise the need for and initiate where appropriate advice of relevant specialisms.
• To liaise closely with other members of the MDT to ensure a detailed and complete diagnostic assessment is completed in line with NICE guidance.
• Be responsible for ensuring clinical outcome data is appropriately collated and routinely recorded to the Trust and professional clinical regulatory body standards.
• To employ excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to promote multi-disciplinary and inter-agency liaison and collaborative practice to broad range of audiences, including other professionals and external assessment providers.
• To continuously evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the service by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures and participate in the development of the service.
• To maintain knowledge of current research and clinical developments and to participate in research/audit within service.
• Experience of working with young people with emotional or mental health difficulties or working in a Neurodevelopment setting is essential.
