Assistant Psychologist
Band 4
Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust are proud award winners of the HSJ Provider of the Year 2019
Job overview
Inspire is an innovative, trauma‑informed service that brings together CAMHS inpatient care, intensive day treatment and community pathways to offer an integrated alternative to hospital admission. The service is designed to support young people with complex mental health needs to remain safely at home, strengthening family relationships and promoting long‑term recovery.
As an Assistant Psychologist, you will work predominantly within the inpatient service, while also working flexibly across inpatient, day service and community settings, supporting the delivery of psychologically informed interventions with children, young people, parents and carers.
Working under the close supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting psychological assessment, formulation, intervention delivery and outcome monitoring. Your work will draw on trauma‑informed, relational and developmentally appropriate approaches, helping young people to develop emotional regulation, coping strategies and resilience within everyday contexts.
We are looking for an innovative, compassionate and forward‑thinking psychology graduate who is motivated to work creatively with children, young people and families, and who values trauma‑informed, relational and systemic practice. This post is well‑suited to individuals seeking experience relevant to future clinical or applied psychology training.
Main duties of the job
Working under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, the post holder will undertake delegated psychological assessments and interventions with children and young people in line with agreed care plans and formulations. The role includes delivering individual and group psychological interventions using trauma‑informed and relational approaches, contributing to formulation, care planning and MDT reviews, and providing clinical observations and feedback. The post holder will support outcome monitoring, audits and evaluation activity, work collaboratively within the MDT across inpatient and day services, and recognise and escalate risk, emotional distress and safeguarding concerns in line with policy.
