Job overview

In this varied role, you will support the cleansing, validation and correction of waiting list data across a range of specialties, including diagnostics, planned care and inpatient pathways. You will also help ensure outstanding outpatient appointments are cashed up in a timely manner, supporting the Trust to maintain accurate information and effective patient pathway management.

Your professionalism, accuracy and ability to work across a range of Trust systems will be essential. You will liaise with divisional teams, service managers, clinical colleagues, booking teams and patient access colleagues from across Broomfield Hospital to resolve queries, support consistent data quality and escalate issues where required.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, highly organised and confident using computer systems, with strong communication skills and a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality. You will need excellent attention to detail, the ability to manage your own workload and the flexibility to respond to changing priorities.

Previous experience in an administrative role would be beneficial. Knowledge of RTT, diagnostics, cancer standards or Trust patient administration systems would be advantageous, although training and support will be provided for the right candidate

Main duties of the job

Play a vital role in supporting safe and effective patient care by joining the Trust as an Admin Support colleague. In this important role, you will provide a comprehensive, flexible and efficient administrative service, helping teams across Basildon Hospital to maintain accurate waiting list and pathway information. Although hosted within the Surgery, Theatres, and Anaesthetic Division, the role supports hospital-wide operational priorities.

Your work will be essential in ensuring patient records and pathway data are accurate, up to date and managed in line with Trust priorities. You will use appropriate Trust systems to capture, update and validate information, monitor reports, complete assigned tasks within agreed timescales and support the timely escalation of any data quality or pathway issues.

Working both independently and as part of a wider team, you will follow established processes while using your initiative to respond to daily demands. Strong communication skills will be key, as you will work with operational, clinical, booking and patient access teams across multiple specialties to support consistent validation and accurate patient pathway management.

If you are organised, adaptable and motivated by work that supports patient care behind the scenes, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to services across Basildon Hospital and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
