Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Job overview
We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to support the Trauma and Orthopaedics – Orthotics clinical area. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the patient journey by placing patient needs at the heart of all administrative processes.
As the key point of contact for all orthotics-related administrative queries, you will provide essential support to the clinical team, including Consultants, Nurse Specialists, and Junior Doctors. Your responsibilities will include coordinating administrative tasks, managing communications, and helping to streamline patient pathways within the service.
You will also work closely with the Patient Pathway Co-ordinator/Administrator, the wider clinical team, Operational Manager, and divisional managers to help deliver safe, effective, and high-quality care. A key focus of your role will be supporting the service to meet contractual access targets and maintain compliance with relevant policies and standards.

Main duties of the job
· Work closely with the Orthotics team and Clerical Manager to deliver outpatient service across site
· You will be fully responsible for the orthotics reception activities
· Fully responsible to work in liaison with the outsourced orthotics team
· Support the delivery of administrative processes along the patient pathway to ensure the patient’s journey is managed efficiently, smoothly and in accordance with targets and agreed timescales
· Utilize computerized tracking systems to locate case notes and investigation results
· Ensure patient information is maintained and updated on the appropriate patient information system
· Re-arrange/book patient appointments as required. Organise off site base activities e.g. School visits, care home visits
· Support the Patient Pathway Co-ordinators/Administrator, Divisional Managers and Clinicians in co-ordinating clinic capacity including liaising with patients etc. in relation to clinic cancellations and rebookings
· Provide cross-cover for other Patient Pathway Assistants to ensure a consistent and effective administration service is maintained at all times.
· Focus on clinic utilization ensuring all appointment slots are utilized
· Inform line management of any clinical changes and clinical demands
· Ensure that clinics are set up and communicated to new appointments team, line management and PPC’s in time
