Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical coding assistant to join our team at Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust based at Basildon Hospital.

You will be part of an enthusiastic, multi-skilled team providing high quality support to the the Clinical Coding service at Basildon. 

You must hold excellent communication skills, be proficient in Microsoft programmes and have the ability to undertake a large range of varied tasks.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing general assistance to the Clinical Coding Team by collecting medical records following patient discharge, tracking paper case notes, locating and collating missing source material such as missing case notes, paperwork and histology reports and answering telephones and dealing with general enquires.

  • Deal with queries from a range of internal staff groups and external bodies, providing routine information. 
  • Plan and organize own activities on a day to day basis to meet agreed 
    national deadlines and those set by the Clinical Coding Team Leader. 
  • Investigates and tracks down missing case notes. 
  • Run reports and locate case notes required for Clinical Coding.
