Specialist Renal Dietitian
Band 6
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.
We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.
Job overview
Are you looking to develop your skills in Renal dietetics, or are you seeking an opportunity to specialise?
In a department where flexible working is supported?
With colleagues who are forward thinking and innovative?
Where you will be valued and encouraged to develop and succeed?
Then we would love to invite you to apply for this position!
A rare opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, enthusiastic and motivated team of Renal dietitians. They play a key role in the Renal services for the local area, from acute management to outpatient care and support.
Our Dietetics team has a strong ethos of support, leadership and collaboration. We have recently experienced a lot of internal promotions and have welcomed back old staff members that missed working with such a fantastic group of people. We have regular social events including shared lunches, summer picnics, baking competitions and holiday quizzes.
We are committed to supporting ongoing personal and professional development of our staff and you would be provided with regular CPD opportunities. The Department is dedicated to student training and staff preceptorship therefore you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in these. From the day you arrive, we are committed to your continued success.
Main duties of the job
Some of your duties will include:
1. To work as an autonomous Dietitian providing assessment, management and education for patients requiring dietetic and nutrition intervention.
2. To work closely with the dietetic and multi-disciplinary team.
3. To assist and participate in training students and health care professionals on nutrition and dietetics.
4. To participate in audit and service improvement projects.
Working for our organisation
Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with HCPC registration who has good communication skills and can demonstrate our values of excellence, compassion, and respect.
You will be based at Basildon Hospital which entitles you to an additional 5% HCA fringe to your salary. Basildon Hospital is part of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and hosts several specialist clinical areas, including The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, the Regional Vascular Unit as well as the region's Specialist Centre for Critical Care.
You will be pleasantly surprised by the area, and travel could not be easier with excellent road and rail links as well as being close to three international airports. The train journey from London takes just 35 minutes, with just a short walk to the hospital.
Please refer to the job description and personal specification attached, when completing your application.
