Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

This exciting opportunity is ideally suited to a band 5 dietitian seeking their first band 6 role or a band 6 dietitian looking to gain greater experience and skills in different specialist areas.

Main duties of the job

This post will enable you to further develop your dietetic expertise over a range of specialties, including renal medicine, stroke, surgical and parenteral nutrition, gastroenterology, cardiothoracics, critical care, respiratory medicine and oncology.  Specialist knowledge and skills will be developed, and transferable skills enhanced in each rotation you undertake.

You will join the renal rotation, developing your skills and knowledge in complex nutrition support and therapeutic dietary management, for low clearance and dialysis, in both acute and outpatient settings. 

We are a large proactive team of dietitians that strives for innovation and improvement in the services we provide. There will be the opportunity for you to be involved in audits, quality improvement and service developments.

This includes preceptorship to Band 5 dietitians, where you will develop your leadership and management skills, as well as opportunities to participate in student learning and development.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc(Hons) or postgraduate equivalent in Dietetics
  • HCPC registration number
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA)
  • Member of a British Dietetic Association (BDA) Specialist Interest Group

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of six months dietetic practice in the NHS
  • Minimum of six months dietetic practice in acute care
  • Demonstrable experience in a variety of clinical conditions
  • Experience in audit and/or quality/service improvement projects
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in diabetes, chronic conditions, and/or mental healthcare
  • Good presentation skills
  • Car driver with access to own car
