Reception and Support Technician

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

 

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Receptionist to join our team in the Medical Education Centre at Basildon Hospital.

You will have a confident manner in both face-to-face and telephone communication, together with good IT skills. You will enjoy providing excellent customer care and have a passionate approach to your work.
 

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as first point of contact for visitors to the department, providing a welcoming environment, meeting and greeting all visitors and handling their enquiries professionally and helpfully
  • Provide an excellent customer care service, including dealing with visitors, telephone and written enquiries for details of meetings, promotions, examinations, activities, training and development sessions and taking action as appropriate
  • Liaise with key external organisations to ensure the smooth running of study days and other important events
  • Assist with signing-in and refreshments at events
  • Ensure any messages are passed to the appropriate person promptly
  • Provide assistance in supporting an audio-visual service to meet the needs of the users, ensuring appropriate use of equipment at all times
  • Report technical problems and undertake basic maintenance such as replacing microphones and batteries
  • Work with internal and external customers to determine their needs for audio visual support during their event
  • Support with the set-up of audio-visual equipment for training sessions and meetings 
  • Configure equipment to ensure it meets the requirements of the event

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in English, Maths and IT
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office confidently and competently (e.g Excel, Word, Outlook etc.…)
  • Technical experience of computers
  • Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate attention to detail
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience and knowledge of operating video conferencing and audio-visual equipment

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate with people face to face, via email and over the telephone to a high standard
Desirable criteria
  • Previously worked in a customer facing role
