Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Inpatient Pain Team at Basildon Trust. You will work collaboratively with the Nurse Consultant, lead nurse, Nurse specialists and Consultant Anesthetist to provide a Trust wide service to in-patients with acute and/or chronic pain.

Main duties of the job
· You must possess strong leadership and organisational skills to support the delivery of evidence-based pain management within the hospital. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team, is essential. You will have experience in efficiently and effectively managing a caseload of patients with complex health and social care needs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· Relevant experience of managing patients requiring acute and/or chronic pain management throughout the hospital setting.
· Excellent clinical assessment and decision making skills to effectively plan and evaluate pain management treatment plans.
· Effective teaching skills and experience of delivering formal and informal education to both patients and the interdisciplinary team.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (NMC)
- Post-registration qualification in relevant specialty - Master’s-level study or working towards
Desirable criteria
- Non-medical prescriber
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Post-registration experience within speciality as band 6 for a minimum of 2 years
- Ability to manage a complex caseload
Communication skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with sensitive and complex situations
- Skills in interdisciplinary working, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Desirable criteria
- Capable of working as an integral member of a small team.
