Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

Job overview
We are looking for a full time Theatre Porter with previous experience or someone who has a genuine interest in this role.

You will work as a competent member of the theatre team, performing a wide range of duties in all areas and across two sites The efficient use of the Trust‘s resources are dependent on the effectiveness of all staff.
You will support the trained members of staff in making both the theatre and day surgery units safe and pleasant for patients and staff and will be expected to undergo training as necessary.

Main duties of the job
Assisting the qualified staff within the department, preparing, cleaning and maintaining all areas of the theatre/day surgery units. Keep all areas of the units clean and tidy as required (according to the cleaning checklists) and facilitate a team approach to good housekeeping.
Collect from and return patients to the wards pre and post operatively.
Assist the ODP in the anaesthetic room as required ensuring that you do not breach professional boundaries.
Assist with transferring and positioning of patients in theatre.
Maintaining patient trolleys and equipment.
Collection of blood from Blood Bank when needed.
Transfer specimens to Pathology.
To check and collect gas cylinders.
