Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Tray Room Assistant here at Mid and south Essex foundation Trust.

You will be responsible for providing a sterile store service, supported by an efficient sterile tray stacking system.

This includes monitoring the return of used sets and ensuring the timely supply of sterile sets to and from the Sterile Services Department (SSD), in order to meet the projected requirements of the theatres.

Main duties of the job

You will maintain safe working for speed and accuracy, level of keyboard skills for accuracy, ability to lift heavy equipment and follow lone person policy

Unload SSD trolleys and lift all instruments to their correct location, this will be done multiple times during the day, sitting at a computer inputting data and ordering loan kit

Be aware of current equipment available for use within all areas ensuring they are within their dates

Ensure that an effective and efficient stores service is delivered, and an accurate inventory system is maintained – cleaning, out of date checks for trays, rotating stock

Respond effectively and efficiently to instrument / equipment requests both consignment (these are loan instrument requests) and purchases

Escalate and report on excessive demands for instrument sets

Maintain a system for the loan of instruments including implants

Liaise with SSD and Transport Department regarding the dispatch, processing and delivery of instrument sets and equipment.

Ensure work practices and environmental factors present a minimum Health & Safety risk.

Order prosthesis and consumables and receipt on arrival as per theatre use

Liaise with key staff in each of the user departments regarding instrument set availability

Carry out audits of all prothesis as and when required and to also assist the company representatives every 6 months on stock counts

Maintain accurate records of new consignment coming into Theatres and report any discrepancies
