Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity within our Early Intervention in Psychosis Psychological Services in the mid part of Essex to offer a maternity leave cover role as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CAP depending on experience and applications. The role may also appeal to newly qualified psychologists or trainees who may be delayed in submitting their thesis but looking for a clinical role whilst completing their studies. This is to offer highly specialist clinical skills for clients experiencing a first episode of psychosis, alongside offering supervision, training, and leadership within the team.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need to be skilled and experienced in working in the NHS, and alongside multidisciplinary teams with all of the opportunities and challenges which that entails. For applicants looking for a principal role this will ideally include specific experience of supervising psychological services teams in EIP services. Strong psychological treatment skills and evidence of short and long term work with complex difficulties are essential. Systemic understanding of team and organisational dynamics or an interest in developing this will be welcomed. Excellent assessment and therapy skills, knowledge of psychometric tools and confidence in making informed professional recommendations on risks and the treatment of service users are essential. Team working ability and skills in training, consultation and supervision and a calm disposition will also be essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We welcome applications from senior Clinical Psychologists with training in CBTp and experience of working with people under the care of ARMS or Early intervention in Psychosis teams. Eligibility for BPS Chartered Status or equivalent and registration with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential.

Skills/Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in supervising psychologists and psychotherapists at a lower banding or of team consultation for CAP.
- Experience working in community mental health teams
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in EIP settings
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional qualification in the form of a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent or CAP training for CAP.
- Eligible for registration as Practitioner Psychologist with HCPC or recognised CAP qualification
- Evidence of significant CPD in relation to Adult Mental Health specialty
Desirable criteria
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists/psychological therapists
