Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.
We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.
Job overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen to work in our award winning Research team based at the BMFD site as a Band 5 Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP).
You will be part of a team of research nurses, with other clinical research practitioners and administrative staff providing a comprehensive clinical research support service working in all specialities of research. The role will involve recruitment, education, and monitoring of research participants into various research studies, along with the collection and documentation of accurate data. The post holder will be expected to facilitate recruitment and deliver research studies for participants.
The Trust is part of the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) Research Delivery Network (RDN) with East of England (EoE) and as a CRP you will be jointly responsible for managing the care pathways of participants, patients, and carers in research studies from the Trust’s active research portfolio. You will also need to maintain good communication with other members of the team, hospital departments, trial sponsors and the RDN.

Main duties of the job
You will have responsibility under supervision for the delivery of direct and indirect participant care within your caseload, working collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary research teams and where applicable in accordance with the UK policy framework for health and social care, The Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004 and the International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice Guideline (ICH-GCP).
The role involves lots of learning opportunities of clinical research protocols and their application in practice, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with local, national and international research regulations to ensure effective running of research studies and the maintenance and compliance to appropriate research governance standards.
The Trust has an in house training and career development programme and has an established research team embedded within the Research & Development (R&D) team which ensures support and clear communication channels are available.
