Job overview

Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Senior Cardiac Physiologist (Band 6)/Chief Cardiac Physiologist (Band 7) – depending on experience for Devices/Invasive. As a Devices Physiologist you will undertake Pacemaker and ICD procedures, including implantation procedures, devices follow ups and home monitoring reviews.

All applicants need to have as a minimum independence for bradycardia pacing (implant and follow up) and independence in basic cardiac angiography. Applications will be considered for those with the required minimum skill set looking to obtain experience in other aspects of the role.

 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be present at pacemaker implants and will analyse device and patient interaction. Based on this analysis, the post holder will report to the implanting physician suitability (or otherwise) of electrode position(s).

The post holder will carry out implantable device follow up clinics using dedicated device programmers, write reports, make and independently instigate pacemaker therapy prescriptions based on clinical findings.

Essential criteria
  • Qualifications equivalent to gain registration with HCPC as a Cardiac Physiologist/Scientist
  • BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent)
  • RCCP/AHCS Registration
  • Working towards Post Graduate Education - BHRS/IBHRE/EHRA
Desirable criteria
  • Holds relevant Post Graduate Education accreditation - BHRS/IBHRE/EHRA

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 1 Year Clinical experience at Band 5 Cardiac Physiologist Level
  • Independent in Basic left heart cardiac catheterisation and Basic bradycardia pacing implant and follow up
  • Independent in Core Cardiac Investigations
Desirable criteria
  • Able to undertake complex device follow up
  • Significant experience as a Cardiac Physiologist in all areas of Cardiac Physiology, with further experience as a specialist in Cardiac Rhythm Management and basic cardiac catheterisation
