Radiology Support Worker

Band 2

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join a new team supporting the Radiology Department at Broomfield Hospital site.

We are looking to expand our support team to assist in the transfer of patients and equipment across the Trust.  You will be an integral member of the Radiology team enabling patients to be scanned in a timely manner with a view to improving the flow of patients within the hospital.

The job is physical in nature and includes the transportation of patients by wheelchair, patient trolley or bed, internally and externally. You will be working with patients so experience of working in a service environment is needed and requires good communication skills.

These posts offer the benefit from flexibility as they offer a variety of shifts including earlies, lates, mid-day responsibilities and weekends.

If you enjoy socialising with a variety of people or are someone who prefers an active role rather than an office job, then we are looking for you.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake all patient support tasks, as requested by manager of the day, superintendents and managers.
  • To undertake all urgent adhoc and scheduled tasks using the correct equipment within the required response times and in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • To maintain good hygiene practices in the tasks performed as per infection control procedures.
  • To observe Health & Safety regulations at all times.
  • To attend staff induction and training and an annual appraisal interview.
  • To ensure that service user complaints and incidents are referred to either Manager of the Day or Superintendent in charge in a timely manner.

Working for our organisation

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust
