Job overview

The Department is looking for an experienced radiology practitioner to join the team at Broomfield fulfilling the MRI superintendent role.  You will be joining us at an exciting time as we continue service on the hospital site and extend services into the community within Braintree Community Diagnostic Centre.

Principal responsibilities will include leadership of the specialist and rotational radiographers and will be responsible for the management, training, supervision and monitoring of all staff in your modality specific area. 

You will ensure that best evidence-based practice is used at all times in addition to evaluating and commissioning new equipment and develop training packages for staff. 

You will ensure protocols and standard operating procedures are maintained and being adhered to and be expected to work with multi-disciplinary teams to identify and manage work streams proactively to promote clinical governance and learning within the service.

 

Main duties of the job

To spend approximately 20% of working time undertaking clinical duties, with the remaining time spent undertaking operational and strategic management activities. 

In liaison with the imaging (Deputy) general manager, modality leads, clinical lead and radiologists, maintain and improve radiographic standards by implementation of agreed protocols, policies and procedures.

To act at all times in accordance with the HCPC code of conduct.

 To provide oversight of Divisional incident reporting, managing the administrative function for all Incidents and ensuring that they managed within timeframes as set by Trust Policy.

 To provide investigative support to colleagues within the clinical network in ensuring that PALS concerns and complaints are managed in line with Trust policy, liaising with the Complaints and Litigation Department and PALS Team accordingly.

 To ensure trends linking complaints, PALS, incidents, legal, risk management recommendations and audit are identified, and actions agreed are completed.

 To ensure that the databases for complaints and local patient surveys are up to date and that trends and actions are completed.

 To develop a regular report with the complaint department to feed into the clinical governance meetings, Clinical Quality Board and Performance reports.

Essential criteria
  • BSc Radiography or Diploma or equivalent specialist training
  • Postgraduate training at MSc or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Radiology Protection Supervisor Training

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post graduate experience (including supervisory experience)
  • Working within or having a good working knowledge of Governance
  • Experience of leading / supervising a team
  • Involvement in clinical audit / research
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of report writing skills, presentation skills and investigation skills
  • Managing complex investigations
