The Mid Essex Community Respiratory Team is an established COPD and respiratory service providing comprehensive, community-based care for adults with chronic respiratory conditions. Our multidisciplinary team delivers a range of services, including spirometry, pulmonary rehabilitation, oxygen therapy, and a virtual ward model, to support patients at home and reduce avoidable hospital admissions. Postholders will run respiratory clinics, carry out home visits, and benefit from regular clinical supervision, teaching, and weekly MDTs with specialist consultants.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; providing community based holistic assessments and treating patients in community clinics and home visits. You will also be involved in the Virtual Respiratory ward and be given the opportunity to become ARTP accredited for spirometry and gain competencies to take and interpret blood gases.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing community based holistic assessments
- Maintain a high standard of patient focused care reflecting an inter-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation and self-management and help provide excellent post discharge care for patients recovering from respiratory exacerbations
- Develop good communication links with patients and carers as well as consultants and service staff
- Establish and promote joint working with other services across professional and organisational boundaries.
Person specification
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
Essential criteria
- Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy, HPC registration and portfolio evidence of postgraduate learning and experience
- Registered Nurse on part 1 of the NMC plus 2 years post graduate experience
Desirable criteria
- Management Qualification/experience
- Independent/supplementary prescriber
Circumstances
Essential criteria
- Car driver.
- Full driving license
- Previous NHS Experience
WORK RELATED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Understanding of the role specialist Physiotherapist or Nurse
- Experience of respiratory medicine.
- Experience of working in the community

- Awareness of national health care issues
