Job overview

The podiatry service are seeking ideally an experienced HCA or care worker to join us whilst a member of our team is on maternity leave.

The role will assist our podiatrists in clinic and also do some redressing under delegation.

This role will include clinics at Colchester, Clacton and Harwich as well as assisting on home visits, therefore a car driver and access to a vehicle is required.

Our services sees patients of all ages for a variety of foot conditions including, but not limited to diabetes, vascular issues, wounds, musculoskeletal issues, ingrowing nails.

This is a fixed term position until 31st May 20027 to cover maternity leave. 

Our service operates Monday to Friday only, so no weekend of bank holiday working.  You should be a driver or have access to a car.

Main duties of the job

The assistant role will provide essential support with basic clinical tasks, patient related administration, and other tasks to assist the clinicians within the podiatry service to provide clinical care.

Assistants will be an integral part of the podiatry team tasks may include:

· To work closely with the Podiatry Team during Nail Surgery Clinics – assisting in clinic.

· Carry out redressing under delegation with a podiatrist on site to review patient if needed.

· Assist with short return clinics

· Taking photographs of wounds and uploading them to the patient record.

· Assist on home visits

· Stock management and ordering

· Arranging periodic reviews

· Preparing dressings boxes for podiatry clinics

· Management and tracking of equipment availability.

· Working closely with the Admin teams, including appointment booking, accepting referrals and possible reception cover.

Essential criteria
  • Previous general office experience
  • Experience of working with confidential and sensitive information and data
  • Experience of using Microsoft packages
Desirable criteria
  • Previous secretarial support experience
  • Experience in health care as an assistant

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy
  • Competent IT skills including Word, Outlook and Excel

  • ECDL or similar

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of office administration and office equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages, including diary management
