Job overview
We are looking for a Ward Clerk to join the Children's Ward Clerk team in Colchester Hospital. The role will involve working with experienced ward clerks within Children's Services.
Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a friendly manner as you will be communicating with a wide variety of people. You will be hard working, highly motivated and have the ability to work on your own initiative.
We also have fixed term/ Secondment post until 10th April 2027.

Main duties of the job
- Effective communication with colleagues, carers, visitors to the ward in a professional manner, responding to a diverse range of enquires.
- Ensuring enquiries are managed effectively with the appropriate support to enable an effective outcome.
- Ensuring effective communication with the nursing team and multi-disciplinary team (MDT), to allow for effective MDT working and prompt decision making
- Initially responding to concerns where necessary and escalating these to the appropriate member of staff where required
- Ensuring there are processes in place to remind staff to carry out actions/tasks that are time specific. (For example, contacting internal/external teams or checking medication has been requested and arrived in preparation for discharge)
