Job overview
An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced Radiographer to Lead and manage the Urology Lithotripsy department at East Suffolk and North East Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).
The post holder will be primarily responsible for performing Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) procedures to treat kidney stones, utilising either x-ray or ultrasound guidance. In addition to clinical duties, the role includes managing the 6-day lithotripsy service, creating optimal efficiency and quality for individual patients and service users.
As the Lead for the service, you will show outstanding leadership qualities as well as significant clinical expertise in the field of Lithotripsy. You would be responsible to line manage the Lithotripsy Practitioner Radiographer and provide clinical guidance to colleagues, whilst coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and the Urology department to efficiently manage individual patient pathways, always striving to improve the service.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive post registration experience with shockwave lithotripsy and relevant clinical pathways
- Evidence of developing, leading & running services autonomously
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Experience in urological imaging.
- Experience in audit and evaluation of services.
- Demonstrates ability to work across organisational and professional boundaries.
- Experience as mentor/facilitator.
- Practical experience in teaching patients and staff
- Knowledge of CQC and RCR guidance relevant to radiology
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a Radiation Protection Supervisor role.
- Budgetary management experience
- Published articles/ poster presentations.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc Hons in diagnostic radiography or equivalent MSc level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Postgraduate and /or master’s qualification within relevant field, or working towards
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate in ultrasound
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates up to date knowledge and expertise in the specialty.
- Demonstrates understanding of principles of Clinical Governance, e.g. risk management, audit
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient care and safety.
- Able to demonstrate good technical knowledge and continue to develop it.
- Working knowledge of IR(ME)R 2017
- Has achieved full competence and operational management of the Lithotripter.
- Experience in developing service strategies
