Job overview

Associate Practitioner opportunity within the ECT Clinic at The Lakes, Colchester (Part time - 15hrs per week).

The post holder is will work within the ECT Clinic and will be required to carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and non-direct care for the benefit of patient and ECT service across the Trust: 

To be an advocate of ECT treatment.

To be actively involved in seeking to improve the service we provide by suggesting improvement.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide effective individual nursing care under the supervision of ECT manager or Deputy for allocated group of patients by:

  •  Assist in the management and care of service users
  •  Produce accurate and timely documentation / records on all clients in line with relevant codes and Trust policy
  • Contribute to assessment and observation of service users and provide relevant and timely  feedback
  • Contribute to risk assessment of the individual and of the potential hazards in the service user environment
  • Provide practical support to service users, carers
  • To support and reassure patients and their carers that attend the clinic.
  • Report and document incidents as required.
  • Under supervision of a registered clinician take part in assessing, planning and reviewing care.
  • Assist in performing some physical health observation duties such as taking Blood Pressure, temperature, blood glucose, weight measurement and ensuring that it is correctly documented.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As an Associate Practitioner you will support and work with the ECT Team under the guidance of the ECT Manager or Deputy to carry out assigned relevant forms of care in relation to ECT service in the clinic. You will be responsible for assisting in the management and care of service users based on their individual needs. You will also act as a mentor to students and junior staff, and be responsible for supervising unqualified staff.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Foundation Degree - Associate Practitioner
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care, Mental Health or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understanding the role of the Support Worker
  • Knowledge or experience of the Recovery model people’s day to day life and impact upon recovery
  • Knowledge of the physical health needs of service users and monitoring of same
