Job overview

Immunisation Nurse - North Essex

15 hours per week -  All year round - Permanent Contract Epping Team

EPUT ‘Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust’ is recruiting for immunisation nurses to work within our Essex wide immunisation service. The service is primarily delivered through a school based model, offering all school aged vaccinations including the intranasal flu vaccination. Additional programmes are offered through community provision at clinics and home visits.

 You will be an RN/RMN/RSCN with an interest in children and a good working knowledge of the child health immunisation service. The post holder must have a compassionate manner when dealing with large groups of children and be able to work in a busy school setting.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an immunisation nurse within the Integrated Immunisation Service delivering immunisations programmes that Essex Partnership University Trust. They will be responsible for delivery safe and effective immunisation in homes, schools, clinics and other community settings.

They will support with the Locality Team Lead and the Delivery Team Manager to improve vaccination uptake rates, health promotion to reduce inequalities and meet the needs of the community. They will support responses to outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases in the community as required.

What is Staff Bank?

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The post holder will be responsible for delivery the national school aged immunisation programme through different models within school and community settings. Working within local and national guidelines, utilising PGD's.
  • Will liaise with other immunisation staff nurses to provide support for immunisation programmes in the locality teams
  • Will contribute to the planning and administration process needed to deliver the immunisation programmes e.g. ordering and delivery of supplies and equipment, storage of vaccines and waste disposal.
  • Will ensure that vaccines are stored and transported in accordance with National and Organisational Policies such as the Safe and Secure Storage and transportation of medicines in the Community
  • Will support the delivery of practical competency assessments of newly appointed and more junior staff undertaking immunisation training. 

A current UK driving licence is essential and access to car for business use.

  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent qualifications
  • Current full UK Driving Licence and the ability to travel independently as required for the post
