Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the Oak Unit team at St Margaret's Hospital, which is a  Nurse Led Urological Diagnostic & Treatment Hub for Uro-oncology and specialist urology out patient treatments and procedures. This post is to cover maternity leave on a fixed term one year contract. 

Urology/ Uro-oncology experience would be desirable owing to the short term nature of the post but training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

To represent the Trust delivering nursing care to the highest and safest standards in line with the Trust Values.

Working in a busy Urology Diagnostic and Treatment Hub, providing a wide range of urological investigations and therapies, you will be working with senior clinical nurse specialists, advanced nurse practitioners, and medical staff in delivering predominantly nurse led clinics.

To plan, provide and maintain effective nursing care to patients/clients and their relatives. To continuously develop and enhance knowledge and skills that will directly influence consistent standards of clinical practice.

Working with the team, support the development of student nurses and junior staff, creating an atmosphere conductive to learning and practice development.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in busy surgical or urological ward
  • Demonstrate knowledge of escalation and recognition of a deteriorating patient
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in Uro-Oncology
  • Experience of working in Out Patient setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Organisational skills (including time management, prioritising own caseload, initiative, escalation)
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to use computer and patient administration systems
Desirable criteria
  • Prior experience of using COSMIC, ICE, CERNA

Education/ Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Practice Assessor/ Supervisor or equivalent qualification
