Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.
We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

A new opportunity has opened for a talented individual to join the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust Transformation Team as a Programme Manager.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, individual who has a passion for improvement and change management, are able to build strong relationships and be able to enthuse staff at all levels to participate in change. You will also act as a champion and promote the use of improvement science across the organisation as a way of improving the safety and quality of the services we deliver.
Main duties of the job
You will work on specific projects and programmes; sometimes alone or with other members of the Improvement team dependant on complexity.
Working with teams throughout the lifecycle of projects/programmes to ensure that there are clears aims, key metrics identified and measured, adequate benefits tracking and realisation in place. Y
Be key in ensuring that detailed implementation plans are in place and managed, risks identified and mitigated and that business cases are completed, where required. It is also crucial that the postholder is used to using and analysing complex datasets to inform decision making on ideas such as service model design and sustainable staffing models as well as identifying the root causes to the problems being addressed.
You will have the opportunity to work across services and teams including digital services, procurement, clinical and non-clinical staff, senior managers, suppliers, other trusts and the Mid and South Essex system.
The Trust has three acute hospital sites in the Essex locality (Basildon, Broomfield and Southend), and the postholder will be expected to work flexibly across all three sites, however, you will have a main base in which to undertake your normal duties.

Essential criteria
- Proven experience of project management and business case development within the NHS or health care setting.
Desirable criteria
- Performance management experience at a senior managerial level.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to BSc level or Equivalent
- Project Management or Improvement Qualification or Equivalent experience
- Demonstrable success in the delivery of change projects and initiatives.
- Sound understanding of the complexities of an acute teaching hospital and programme.
- Experience of influencing and providing strategic advice to senior managers.
- Experience of managing project teams, including contractors achieve a successful outcome
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy
Desirable criteria
- Educated to Masters Level or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- MSP or Prince 2 Practitioner qualified
- NHS operational experience or general awareness
