Job overview
The Trust are investing in and developing Acute Medicine to ensure that the service continues to respond effectively to patient demand and delivers the highest quality of service. As such, we are seeking to recruit a Locum Consultant to join the team.
Acute Medicine works closely with the Emergency Medicine team and all medical specialties, and you will be involved in the development of clinical pathways to improve patient outcomes.
You, along with our team of 10 Acute Physicians, will be responsible for the care of patients on our 28-bedded Medical Assessment Unit, Same Day Emergency Care Unit and Short Stay (Charnley) Unit. You will be supported by a full multi-disciplinary team, which includes a junior medical team and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
You should be able to demonstrate extensive experience in Acute Medicine, and preferably possess CCT in Acute Medicine, or General Medicine with a specialty interest.
Main duties of the job
This post carries the normal decision making responsibilities of any Consultant appointment. You will specifically see patients referred to the Acute service and take clinical responsibility for decision making of treatment for patients under their care. This will include involvement and shared decision making with other clinical groups (nurses, physiotherapists, radiographers, etc) and non-clinical groups including management. You will be expected to support and instruct the decision making of junior colleagues from an educational and care delivery point of view.
Working for our organisation
This is an exciting time for PAHT. You’ll be part of the team leading and supporting our organisation in a diverse and challenging role; a role which can make a significant difference to our patients, staff and the future direction of our services.
Our people demonstrate energy and commitment towards improving the care and experiences provided to our patients and the drive to be an ‘outstanding’ organisation.
It’s never been a better time to join us.
