Job overview
The Patient Services and Support Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective provision of support services, based at The Princess Alexandra Trust main site in Harlow, which will meet the demands, and expectations of the service, through effective leadership and motivation of staff and the efficient deployment of resources within the department. The role requires flexibility in the hours of work and the post holder will be part of the operational on-call management roster for Facilities.
Main duties of the job
· To be responsible for the management and provision of a 24 hour, 7 day a week Portering service to the Trust. Which includes departments such as ED, SDEC, Opal, AAU, Pharmacy, X-Ray, Galen House, KAO Park and all aspects of General Portering duties.
To manage the Portering to ensure training and compliance as the Portering Supervisors are lead of the fire team and to ensure that all training, development and H&S issues are strictly adhered to.
· To be responsible for the management and provision of internal logistic transport services to the Trust, including St Margaret’s Hospital, Herts and Essex Hospital, Capio Rivers Hospital, Kao Park and Saffron Walden Hospital.
· . To ensure that the deliveries and collections of Patients Notes, Blood, Pathology items, Pharmacy items, CSSD items and Controlled Drugs are transported in strict accordance within the carriage of dangerous goods legislation and Trust policies and procedures including patient confidentiality.
· To be responsible for the day to day management of the post room services on-site at PAHT, including staff management and equipment used as part of the postal service.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE standard
- Must hold a current driving licence to drive in UK.
Desirable criteria
- Professional qualifications desirable, management degree or CPC in road haulage
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous Experience of managing a large team
- Experience of budget management
- Management experience in the NHS or similar environment
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Awareness and understanding of postal services & franking machines
- Experience of report writing
- Evidence of working to deadlines
