Be part of the changing face of charity fundraising at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. We are recruiting a head of charity to grow and transform our Princess Alexandra Hospital Charity and its team.

Recent times have shown a real change from people and organisations in supporting NHS charities and we are keen to build on the support available to benefit our people and patients.

There are many opportunities for fundraising from a wide range of sources that will enable The Princess Alexandra NHS Hospital Charity to make a difference. The head of charity will lead on this along with growing a team to support the success of these goals.

Main duties of the job

The head of charity for the Princess Alexandra Hospital Charity will be responsible for raising the profile of the charity and maximising the fundraising opportunities. The role will develop and implement the fundraising strategy, grow the Charity team and engage with donors, fundraisers and The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS 
Trust’s (PAHT) people.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop’s Stortford, and St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping. 

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.

Essential criteria
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience/ability to engage with stakeholders/donors both individuals and organisations
  • Business/management qualifications

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a corporate fundraising or relationships role or able to bring appropriate skills from an alternative organisation
  • Event management experience
  • Proven track record of delivering against targets under pressure
  • Ability to quickly build a variety of relationships

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Corporate and sponsorship management experience
Desirable criteria
  • Established contacts with major and corporate donors
  • Experience of working with volunteers
