Job overview
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker who has a passion for delivering high quality care within an Chemotherapy and Haematology outpatient Unit.
This is an ideal opportunity for anyone wanting a career in health care. Experience desirable but not essential, training will be provided to gain the skills needed for the duties below.
Main duties of the job
Main duties and responsibility below but can be subject to change.
As the successful candidate, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Williams Day Unit.
- Weighing and conducting observations for Patients in preparation for their chemotherapy.
- Picc line care
- Venesections
- Vene puncture and cannulation
- Supporting out patient department with clinics
- Completing daily tasks to maintain the health and safety of the Unit

The post is advertised as a band 3 role subject to the following:
- successfully completing the care certification within the six month probationary period of employment, during which you will be paid Band 2
or
- providing a copy of your completed care certificate which has been reviewed during the recruitment process and determined as meeting the accepted standard
Upon successful completion (or accepted evidence) of the Care Certification and completion of the probationary period of employment, you will be promoted to NHS AFC Band 3.
Failure to complete the Care Certification within this timeframe may result in termination of employment.
