Job overview
We are looking for a driven Fundraising Manager specialising in approaching trusts, grants & foundations who is passionate about health charities and the role the charity plays in supporting the needs of local patients. As a key member of the Charity Team, you must have the creativity, skill & knowledge to deliver the best charity experience to supporters to support the wider strategy. You will provide an important link between the Charity, fundraisers & hospital staff to deliver an effective donor experience.
Working as part of the wider team, you will play a leading role in maximising income & generating funds to agreed targets through targeted trust & foundation applications & relationship development. Key responsibilities will include detailed research, framing proposals for support & working closely with the Trust to identify projects that require substantial financial support.
You will require local geographic knowledge & knowledge of trust & foundations fundraising. You must be highly organised, self-motivated & competent in creating & delivering targeted pitches that meet the business objectives with a proven ability to convert leads into successful wins. You will also require considerable networking working skills with the ability to identify influential contacts both internally & externally. The ability to convey complex messages with confidence and with powers of persuasion is essential.

Main duties of the job
- In conjunction with the Head of Grants & Charity Operations, plan & implement the strategy for trusts, grants & foundations with agreed targets and plans, to be reviewed on a regular basis
- Maintaining accurate records using the Access CRM database, with details of all target funders, approaches made and responses noted
- Provide regular monthly reports about successful, active & future grant application activity, performance and application
- To attend a range of events including external meetings and presentations that will inspire audiences to engage with the charity
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation including the Charities Act and Data Protection
- Participating in local and regional events to lift the charity profile and encourage donations
- To ensure that appropriate timetables are put in place to reflect the policies of possible grant funders and that all proposals are consistent with the criteria set
- With support from Associate Director of Charity and Charity Communications & Marketing Team, create publicity for new and existing funding opportunities
- Be aware of charity policy on accepting donations in line with the reputation of the charity and hospital trust
- Work independently under their own initiative and act as lead specialist

Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable strong interpersonal skills in a public or customer care setting
- Experience of working with data entry, accurate record keeping, and running database reports from customer relationship management systems.
- Demonstrable experience of being involved with charity work e.g. fundraising and/or volunteering
- Ability to use range of communication channels
- Experience of researching for and writing funding bids or other business applications
Desirable criteria
- Experience of using Access CRM or another fundraising database for data entry, data manipulation and reporting
- Working knowledge of the basics for good fundraising practice
- Experience of using virtual grant-finding tools
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Further relevant training or work experience
Desirable criteria
- Not-for-profit or fundraising specific training
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Methodical worker with excellent organisational skills and keen eye for detail
- Excellent multi-tasking skills with the ability to support many different groups and individuals simultaneously and manage priorities accordingly
- Able to use IT systems including Microsoft Office
- Ability to develop financial plans & competently interpret budget information
- Strong understanding of governance & GDPR

- Basic NHS finance, service-level & business planning knowledge
