Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic and flexible Domestic Service Assistant to join the facilities team at Walker Close based in Ipswich.
The role will involve cleaning of clinic rooms and communal areas within the clinic. Cleaning tasks will involve dusting, moping, hoovering etc. You will be required to follow standard processes and procedures as outlined by the trust.
Full training and uniform is provided
10 Hours per week working - Monday - Friday 17:45 - 19:45 excluding bank holidays
ESNEFT is undergoing a transitional phase which may result in the outsourcing of Soft FM services to another provider from April 2025. Successful candidates will commence on ENSEFT terms and conditions before transferring employment to the new employer. Terms and conditions will largely remain unchanged upon employment transfer.
Main duties of the job
- To ensure all areas are cleaned to the agreed standards and to work within the guidelines of COSHH
- To ensure the standards of cleanliness meets the national specification of cleaning set out in the 2007 guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe and pleasant environment to support day to day operations for patients, Trust staff, visitors and contractors to site.
- To be aware and adhere to the Trust policies and procedures especially infection control
Everyday tasks will include:
- Plan and organise your day, check cleaning schedules and tasks to be completed.
- General cleaning: Dusting, hoovering, mopping, replenishing of stock, changing
bin bags, removing rubbish, cleaning and polishing internal glass, check cleans,
changing curtains, tidying up, completing paperwork, completing discharge and
infectious cleans, etc. - Every day task with specialised training.
- Use of scrubbing machines for hard floor areas of different finishes.
- Use of carpet cleaning for soft floor areas.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Qualifications in English and maths
- Basic computer skills.
- NVQ or BIC’s qualification or work towards qualification when in post.
Desirable criteria
- Attended training in COSHH (Controls of substances hazards to health)
- Attended training in Health and Safety
- Completed e-learning training in a previous role.
Experience
Essential criteria
- 6 months minimum cleaning experience
- Good knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of COSHH and what it stands for
- Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety
Desirable criteria
- Previous cleaning experience within the NHS
- An understanding of colour coding and infection control procedures
- Knowledge of infection control methods and procedures
- Awareness of PLACE
Skills and abilites
Essential criteria
- An ability to understand written and spoken instructions
- An ability to work unsupervised
- Understanding confidentiality
- Good customer care skills
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Desirable criteria

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
