We are excited to be able to offer an opportunity to join the Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist Team at ESNEFT in our Haematology service.
We are a dynamic team of nurses that strive to deliver high standards of specialist care for Haematology. We have a wealth of experience in the team to support you and we will welcome your skills and experience. The role will be based at Ipswich Hospital, however cross site working to Colchester Hospital will be required.
Main duties of the job
-
Provide a comprehensive service for patients with Red Cell diseases. You will provide expert care, advice and support to patients receiving treatment on an in-patient and out-patient basis and to their families and as a resource to other staff.

This roles includes clinical duties, the development and leadership of nurse-led clinics to provide for the needs of the patients and their families. You will also work closely and support the Oncology/Haematology day unit manager.

The haematology clinical nurse specialist sits within the wider nurse specialist team and you will be expected to provide cross cover across the wider Haematology specialties.

You will maintain an up to date knowledge base and will be expected to facilitate the professional development of nurses within the Division.

Person specification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant proven post registration experience in Haematology nursing.
- Experience of teaching and assessing in clinical practice.
- A broad range of experience working with Haematology patients and their families who have complex psychosocial needs
- Understanding and management of patients undergoing Haematology treatments.
- Experience of audit and research
- Competencies relevant to care group.
- Understanding and experience of malignant Haematology and Acute Oncology services.
Desirable criteria
- Proven previous band 6/7 experience
- Can demonstrate evidence of leading service development.
- Experience of enhancing patient care.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse recorded on the NMC register
- Teaching and assessing in clinical practice qualification
- Evidence or relevant post registration study to include at least one of the following: ENB 237/equivalent (Oncology), ENB 931/equivalent (Palliative Care), UKONS SACT Passport
- Advanced communication skills
- Psychological Care Level 2
- Evidence of studying at a minimum of level 6 (first degree) with a willingness to study towards level 7 ( Masters)
- Evidence of ongoing CPD.

- Consent training
- Consultation and assessment course
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate highly specialist knowledge of patients undergoing treatment for Red Cell Diseases
- Awareness of national guidance relevant to own specialties – NICE, Consent for treatment.
- Excellent knowledge of current evidence based practice.
Desirable criteria
- Use of relevant pharmacology to provide advice to patients/carers/other professionals
