We are inviting applications for a full time post, Consultant Radiologist - General Radiology with subspecialty interest in Oncology radiology.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will:
• Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service of the highest standard
• Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines
• Develop and maintain good working practices
• Provide effective clinical leadership for all staff in the service through positive collaboration with colleagues
• Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
• Have appropriate medical secretary support and office space, together with IT and internet facilities

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post-holder will:
• Work in conjunction with colleagues to provide a comprehensive imaging service. The timetable is worked flexibly and will be agreed with colleagues.
• Provide specialist radiological advice and services to users of the radiology department, including MDT participation
• Accept responsibility for compliance with ionising and radiation regulations, along with radiation protection supervisor and the radiation protection officers
• Accept personal responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to him/her. Provide advice and information as required to clinical colleagues and other staff
• Share responsibility for the supervision, training, and professional development of radiographic staff and other departmental staff as necessary
• Attend regular departmental meetings and participate in department governance and development of the service The demand for diagnostic imaging has grown at a rate of 10-20 % per annum over the last few years. The Trust is committed to improve its existing capacity to cater for the increase in demands placed on the service. There will be opportunities for enthusiastic committed individuals to join our team and be part of shaping the future of Radiology service delivery at Ipswich.
Innovative ways of capacity management including flexible working hours, working from home and skill mix which are being actively pursued.
The following examinations are performed:
• Plain radiography, contrast studies of the GI and GU systems.
• Vascular intervention including angioplasty (often day case), stent insertion, embolisation and EVAR.
• Non-vascular interventional procedures – gastrostomy, urological and hepato-biliary intervention, Musculoskeletal intervention, biopsies and drainages
• Ultrasound including colour Doppler studies and contrast Ultrasound
• Multi-slice CT scan – all body areas scanned including CT angiography, CT Colonography and prospectively ECG gated Cardiac CT angiography.
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging
• Radionuclide Imaging
• PET/CT

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Full GMC Registration
- • FRCR or equivalent
- • Specialist accreditation or within six months of obtaining CCT
Desirable criteria
- • Research experience / Higher degree MD / PhD
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Ability to supervise and report general and cross-sectional imaging
- • Ability to perform general ultrasound techniques
- • Ability to supervise, perform and report techniques in chosen area of expertise
Desirable criteria
- • Fellowship / evidence of subspecialty training experience
