Job overview

Would you like to use your skills to help make a difference to our patients?

If so, we are looking for a receptionist/administrator to join our team and work in our oncology and haematology outpatients and Woolverstone day unit at Ipswich Hospital.

You will join an existing, supportive and established team of receptionists/administrators. This post will be worked: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, which may be subject to change upon needs of the service. You will need to be flexible to provide cover for other team members.

You will be the first point of contact for our patients visiting the department therefore you will play an integral part of making a difference to our patients by providing a friendly, welcoming face. 

Main duties of the job

  • Consistent provision of administration support to the team.
  • To ensure high standard of administrative service is consistently delivered by undertaking all required tasks and activities on a daily basis. 
  • Ensure queries are dealt with in an appropriate timely manner
  • Managing patient waiting lists to ensure that RTT and Cancer Performance wait times are achieved. Escalate potential breach dates before booking to appropriate person
  • Completion of the department appointment report ensuring that clinic outcomes are acted upon
  • Process oncology and haematology department appointment reports for clinics held elsewhere or remote clinics
  • Providing an efficient and polite service to callers by answering the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner in accordance with trust guidelines
  • Ensure clinic outcomes are acted upon in timely manner
  • Ensure department appointment reports are processed
