Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated physiotherapist with a passion for working with amputees to join our Prosthetic Rehab Team based at Colchester Hospital, sitting under the MACIES division of ESNEFT.

The role is a part time, static position with the successful candidate joining a small, friendly team of physiotherapists and prosthetists providing prosthetic rehabilitation for major limb amputee patients in North Essex and East Suffolk. The team works with adults of all ages and is based on achieving client centred goals in a time oriented way.

The successful candidate would receive well structured support and CPD opportunities exist throughout the department, including regular supervision and an active appraisal process.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for providing specialist assessment and treatment for outpatient amputee patients, ensuring appropriate pathways of care and communications via liaison and referral to other agencies as required.

To work with the clinical lead in planning, co-ordinating, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided on a day to day basis.

To provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to patients, the majority of whom have urgent, complex and/or chronic presentations

To demonstrate, as an autonomous practitioner, advanced assessment of the amputee population, analytical and clinical reasoning skills to determine a clinical diagnosis and treatment plan.

To administer the appropriate treatment including the use of advanced techniques and re-evaluation of those techniques on a continual basis.

To maintain clinical records in accordance with CSP regulations.

To be flexible in the work place, potentially working in the outpatient department/gem, GP surgeries or on the vascular ward.

To assist the senior staff in delivering and evaluating the physiotherapy service provided to acute and chronic conditions and those with bio psychosocial issues on a day to day basis.

To contribute to the achievement of the service objectives, facilitating change as necessary.

To complete home visits as clinically indicated.

Working for our organisation

We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.
