Job overview
We are seeking an experienced administrator to join the management administration team in the role of Senior Administrator to the Head of Clinical Health Psychological Services (CHPS) and co-ordination the administration responsibilities across the Clinical Health Psychology Services. This role will also have line management responsibilities for a team of Administration Assistants and so line management experience is desirable.
This role will have a mix of at base and at home working.
The role will link between Heads of Services and clinicians as well as other senior administrators across the directorate and the Trust. Therefore, the applicant will have a desire to work in the psychology directorate.
The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and in collaboration with minimum supervision and have the ability to prioritise workload to be able to work in flexible way to be responsive to need. An interest in working in the psychology directorate.
The Psychological Service Directorate spans across Essex providing services in Clinical Health Psychology, Secure Services, Community Mental Health, Inpatient, Early intervention in Psychosis, Learning Difficulties, and specialist services such as LD, Eating Disorder and Perinatal services. Psychological Services are well regarded within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
- To support the Head of Clinical Health Psychology e.g. diary and inbox management, arranging meetings
- To support the CHPS services though management of day to day running of staff administration e.g. training and supervision tracker oversight, annual leave processing
- To line manage the CHPS administration team working across different sites

Qualifications & Expereince
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 3 Business Administration and /or equivalent experience or qualification (e.g. RSA 3).
Desirable criteria
- Certified courses or undergraduate degree relevant to the job role
Expereince
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in an administrative/secretarial environment
- Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive information
- Ability to work accurately and unsupervised, using own initiative
- Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone manner including liaison with outside agencies
Desirable criteria
- Has worked in an NHS setting or equivalent previously
- Previous experience of line management – organisation of workload across a small administration team
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Advanced IT skills i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MSTeams and Outlook
- Knowledge of a full range of secretarial and administration procedures
Desirable criteria
- Familiarity with IT systems such as HealthRoster, Business Objects, eProc or similar workforce, finance and logistics IT systems
