Dual banded Radiographer - Bands 5/6

Band 5

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic Band 5 and / or Band 6 Radiographers to join our existing skilled, friendly radiographic team here at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust providing services across the full week.

You will be based at Southend on the coast. The role requires rotation through different areas of the department including A&E, Theatres, Mobile and General x-ray.

You will also be required to rotate through our outlying settings from time to time.  As a dual banded post, candidates will be supported for promotion to Band 6 roles through a well-structured development plan

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 radiographer, you will work independently, as part of a team.  In time following the completion of competences and development and consolidation of your training, you will be assessed, enabling progression to a Band 6 role.  In this senior role you will also be expected to take a supervisory role leading a small group.  Band 6 radiographers act as mentors for this process and are also required to supervise and assess undergraduate students.

We are fully DR compliant including at our community hospital sites, and provide CT, MR, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and Cardiac Imaging. We have a dedicated Interventional Theatre and newly refurbished fluoroscopy suite.

As a department we support Radiographer Advanced and Extended Scope practice related to service need, including Image Reporting, Radiographer led CT Colonography and upper GI Fluoroscopy. We support the education and development of staff and have a dedicated Education Committee to ensure training is relevant, distributed fairly and supportive of Departmental goals. We have dedicated focus groups e.g. ‘KidRad’ – whose aims are to improve the service we provide to particular patient groups.

Working for our organisation

We work together, and in conjunction with MSE Health and Care Partnership, to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients in a compassionate way, and provide a respectful, but vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

From facilities through to consultant specialists we want to be the best, to achieve this we need to recruit not just those who are the finest in their field but also those who have the potential to be. Yes, experience is important but so is outlook – if you are dynamic, forward-thinking and enthusiastic we want you to join us.

We not only offer you a good working environment with flexible working opportunities, but also the opportunity to develop your career with access to appropriate training for your job and the support to succeed and progress.
