We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Histopathology Medical Secretary to join our dedicated secretarial team at Southend Hospital. In this vital role, you will perform a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties, supporting our clinical teams and ensuring the smooth, efficient running of the Histopathology service.

Main duties of the job
Provide comprehensive administrative support to Consultant Histopathologists, Specialty Drs, Specialist Registrars, and senior technical staff within a large and busy administrative team.
Process diagnostic reports efficiently and accurately, ensuring all patient pathways are managed in a timely manner and in accordance with national Cancer Waiting Times standards.
Support the smooth running of the histopathology service, contributing to effective communication, coordination, and workflow management across the department.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE Standard
- 60wpm typing speed
- Audio typing/text transcription Stage II or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Recognised typing/secretarial qualifications
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with IT Office packages like Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in various forms of electronic media
- 3 years experience of working in a busy office environment
- Advanced keyboard skills and use of VDI
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in an administrative position or in a medical environment
- Able to work within a team and willing to learn new tasks and adapt to any changes
