The Trust is recognised by the University of Essex and is a top provider of apprenticeships for people looking to be an assistant practitioner, senior health care support worker (CAP). Our trailblazing CAP apprenticeship won a national HSJ Award.
We are also recognised as a Veteran Aware Trust and holder of gold accreditation from the Ministry of Defence Employment Recognition Scheme. Our services are highlighted as an exemplar of good practice, producing the best care for more than 3.500 armed forces veterans in the past seven years.
We have been shortlisted and won national awards. We are an inclusive organisation and Level 3 Disability Confident Leader Trust.
We are constantly innovating and looking for new ways to deliver care, such as using technology to enhance patient care and working with partners to launch new services such as the Basildon Mental Health Urgent Care Department, virtual hospitals and falls response cars.
Join us and you’ll do the best work of your life – and make a difference to other people’s lives. What we do together, matters.
Job overview
You would join our cohesive team of 5 qualified psychologists, 1 CAP and 2 assistant psychologists, providing services in inpatient, community mental health and dementia care settings in West Essex for Older People and people living with dementia. Our team has strong links with the University of Hertfordshire and University of Essex Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training courses and you will be encouraged to contribute to teaching and placement provision.
You would also join the EPUT Directorate of Psychological Services. Your professional development is important to us and we have varied CPD opportunities within the Directorate, supported by a robust supervision and appraisal structure. Our team’s therapy interests are diverse, and team members have undertaken post qualification training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, including for PD/CEN, Mentalisation Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Diplomas in Neuropsychology.
We will also support you to work flexibly where necessary around caring roles and other commitments.
If you are newly qualified and appointed at Band 7, the post will be considered developmental. The successful candidate will be expected to consolidate skills and work towards increased confidence and autonomy during a transitional period. On demonstrating knowledge, training and experience consistent with Band 8a, the successful candidate can expect their transition to Band 8a to be supported.
Main duties of the job
The post is based in the integrated multi-disciplinary team in Stansted, with opportunities to lead on projects and new initiatives across the West Essex three localities. A central part of the role will be the provision of assessments, formulations and interventions for older adults and people living with dementia who have complex mental healthcare needs. The post holder will also be responsible for the development and promotion of psychologically informed ways of working in the multi-disciplinary team and wider partner services. There will be opportunities for multi-disciplinary staff training, consultancy and supervision, and significant scope for the successful candidate to develop the role in response to local need and service development and quality initiatives.
