Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a part time Community Occupational Therapist to join the Stowmarket Integrated Neighbourhood Team. Community experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

 

Main duties of the job

The primary function of the Therapy element of the team is to provide healthcare such as short term rehabilitation to patients in their home environment. To support timely discharge and admission avoidance through exercise programmes and equipment provision to improve function and promote independence as much as possible. The team visit patients within their own environment or within the gym at Stowlodge. We also run clinics at base such as Falls Clinic and Better Balance group.

The team work with 4 GP practices and there is a wealth of experience and knowledge within the current members of the team.

You would need to be motivated and committed to delivering high quality care.

There is an expectation you would use your own car for work initially. there is a lease care scheme which would be available for this post should this be of interest.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • • Health Professions Council Registration
Desirable criteria
  • • Membership of an appropriate professional body

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of the supervision of staff and students
  • • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • • Evidence of skill relevant to the rehabilitation of adults with physical disabilities gained through theory and practical course and experience.
  • • Experience of working with adults with complex physical, sensory and cognitive disabilities.
  • • Experience of working with a range of primary and community services including Health, Social Care Services and the independent Sector.
Desirable criteria
  • • Current professional student practice placement educator training and associated skills
  • • Membership of a special interest group relevant to the role.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Membership of an appropriate professional body
  • • Current knowledge and skills of moving and handling dependent adults and older people
  • • A knowledge of primary and community services
  • • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the NHS Plan and NSF’s relating to own and associated services and the implications for service provision. High level of skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders
