Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.
We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

The Healthcare Analytics department within Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting new role and is looking to appoint a Pathology Report Developer and Data Analyst to join its team.
This is a great opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who has established and proven analyst and Power BI development experience.
The Healthcare Analytics department is pivotal to ensuring the data and analytics needs of the organisation are met and in supporting the organisation to make data driven, evidence based, decisions. This role will work in partnership with the Pathology team to support their reporting and analytical needs. As a new role, the successful candidate will have opportunity to shape the ways of working and establish the role within the team.
This role is fully remote and therefore the successful candidate will require a suitable home working environment. There are twice yearly directorate Away Days held in person that the successful candidate will be expected to attend.

Main duties of the job
The Pathology Report Developer and Data Analyst will be responsible for designing, building, developing and maintaining various new reporting solutions, including automated reports and dashboards predominantly for the Pathology division. The post holder will provide analysis and insight to help support the service and their key objectives. The post holder will be responsible for delivering high quality visualisation solutions to agreed specifications and in accordance with departmental policies and best practice. The post holder is required to attend and actively participate in internal and external meetings providing technical expertise and offering advice and guidance as required.

The Analysis and Reporting team is a welcoming, experienced and supportive team. There are clear and documented processes to help the team members navigate through the various requirements of their roles. - Educated to masters level or equivalent level of knowledge gained through relevant work experience

- Expert user of Microsoft office products including advanced functions of MS Excel
- Thorough understanding of NHS data definitions, reporting requirements, sources and information flows.
- Significant experience of designing, developing and publishing reports and dashboards across a broad range of areas using PowerBI
- Significant experience of extracting and processing data from multiple source systems using SQL
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the pathology service and data flows and reporting
- Experience of working with clinicians as part of report design and development
- Successful management and delivery of information related projects against formally monitored timescales
Skills
Essential criteria
- Supporting information demonstrates how you would keep abreast of new concepts relating to Healthcare Analytics and horizon scans to identify and implement best practice
- Work history and supporting information demonstrates successful implementation/support of change and service improvement
