Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.
We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our clinical effectiveness team.
You will work as part of the Clinical Effectiveness Team to support the delivery of the clinical audit programme and implementation of best practice guidance such as NICE, NCEPOD and GIRFT.
Tasks will include development and support for audit activities based on national and local priorities, evidencing our compliance with CQC regulations and monitoring of NICE guidance implementation.
You will support the Trust to develop their improvement plans following the recommendations from national clinical audits, best practice guidance and NCEPOD studies.
Main duties of the job
Provide and receive complex information concerning practice development and audit to and from a range of services and clinical teams.
Report clinical audit and effectiveness information to a wide variety of clinical staff.
Provide clinical audit reports and presentations as required.
Assist in the co-ordination, facilitation and embedding of high-quality clinical audit and effectiveness programmes.
Assist in the development, implementation, analysis and monitoring of clinical audit based on organisational, local and national priorities.
Working with the Head of Clinical Effectiveness/Clinical Effectiveness Manager/Clinical Effectiveness Facilitator, ensuring the annual clinical improvement and effectiveness programme is supported.
Analyse, understand and interpret national guidance and clinical audit data and recommend the best course of action.
Support work streams to ensure the Trust has sufficient evidence to meet Care Quality Commission regulations.
Undertake any other ad hoc duties related to clinical audit and effectiveness, as directed by the Head of Clinical Effectiveness or Clinical Effectiveness Manager.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of undertaking clinical audit of quality improvement project work, including audit design, data collection and analysis, data validation, report writing and presentations
- Previous NHS experience
- Ability to extract, analyse and present complex data from reports
- Appropriate technical skills, including proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables and analytical functions), MS Forms, and PowerPoint
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and to meet deadlines
Desirable criteria
- Experience of national clinical audits, including review of outcomes
- Previously used Statistical Process Control Charts (SPC)
- Use of audit Software
- Experience of supervising staff
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Level 6 qualification (for example bachelor’s degree, Graduate Diplomas or Advanced Professional Diplomas) or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Formal clinical audit or quality improvement training
Communication
Essential criteria
- Good written communication skills demonstrated by minimal errors in application
