Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

Job overview
We are looking to appoint a cheerful, motivated and ambitious person to join our Ophthalmology Reception at Southend Hospital. For a part time role with a flexible approach to working hours and duties would be essential.
This is a busy reception and provides a focal point for receiving patients, visitors, and staff where you will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way, but be able to multi task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions and possess excellent communication skills.
No specific qualifications are required; however, you should have good keyboard skills and previous experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job
In your role you will be expected to provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors, whilst fulfilling all necessary reception, clerical, and administrative tasks receiving and booking in patients using Careflow and dealing with patient queries in person in an efficient and professional manner.
You role will require that you maintain an efficient and friendly service to patients, relatives and visitors and to liaise with staff within the Ophthalmology unit and staff in other departments and wards, undertake and support the administrative function within the Ophthalmology unit as required.
