Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

 

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Radiotherapy department you will be required to provide a welcoming and efficient reception.

You  will be the first point of contact for patients, their relatives, colleagues and visitors to the department so must display a calm, friendly, caring and professional manner.

Provide a range of reception duties ensuring that the reception runs smoothly and efficiently.

This is currently a part-time role of 30 hours per week but there may be scope to increase this to a full time role in the future.

Main duties of the job

To communicate with patients/relatives and carers in a sensitive and welcome manner.

To deal with telephone queries in a courteous and helpful way.

Direct patients to the correct waiting room within the department giving them assistance if required.

To keep the patients waiting informed and up to date regarding any delays in the department.

Liaise with transport regarding patient bookings and any issues with these.  Deal with any queries that patients may have regarding their hospital transport.

Essential criteria
  • 3 GCSEs or equivalent including English and Maths
  • Good IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Training courses related to administrative duties
  • Knowledge of clinical electronic documentation system

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working on reception in a public facing role
  • Experience of working in a team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
